The audition is a conversation, not an inspection. Most applicants arrive expecting to be judged on how they look. What actually decides the day is whether you can hold a conversation about something you care about.
Dates and venues
Audition dates for this edition have not been published yet. They appear here and on the events calendar as soon as they are confirmed.
What happens on the day
- Registration (15 minutes). You confirm your identity and your application reference. Bring the same identification you uploaded.
- Briefing. The organisers explain the day, the competition format and what happens next.
- Introduction (2 minutes). You introduce yourself to the panel — who you are, where you are from, and what you care about.
- Questions (5 minutes). The panel asks about your cause and about how you would represent the region. There are no trick questions.
- Walk. A short walk so the panel can see stage presence. This is coachable and carries less weight than most applicants assume.
- Close. You are told when to expect a decision. Nobody is told on the day.
Expect to be there for two to three hours, mostly waiting. Bring something to read.
What to bring
- Photo identification — the same one you uploaded. Without it you cannot register.
- Your application reference — from your confirmation email.
- Comfortable clothes you feel like yourself in. Smart, not costume.
- Heels if you own them, for the walk only. If you do not, that is fine — say so.
- Water and a snack. It is a long morning.
What not to worry about
- Professional make-up. The panel would rather see your face.
- An expensive outfit. It has never decided an audition.
- Not having modelling experience. Most applicants do not. The training weeks exist for exactly this.
- Nerves. Everyone is nervous. The panel is looking for what you say, not how steadily you say it.
How to prepare
Two things genuinely help, and neither costs anything.
Be able to describe your cause in thirty seconds. Not why it matters in general — what you have done about it. Specifics: how many people, over what period, with what result. Practise saying it out loud until it sounds like you rather than like a speech.
Have one question ready for the panel. Almost nobody does, and it is remembered.
How you are assessed
The panel scores against the same published criteria used throughout the competition — poise, communication, cultural representation, advocacy and talent. You can read the criteria and their weightings on the judges page before you come.
After the audition
Shortlisted applicants are emailed within two weeks. Check your spam folder and mark our address as safe. If you are not selected this time, you will be told — we do not leave people waiting in silence.
If you cannot attend
Tell us as soon as you know, through the contact form with your reference. Where another date is available we will try to move you. Simply not arriving withdraws your application.
