The pageant.
Every stage, what happens in it, and exactly how the winner is decided.
This page explains the whole competition. If you are applying, voting or simply curious about how the winner is chosen, everything is set out here rather than left to be guessed at.
The stages
- Application. Open to any woman meeting the eligibility requirements. An online form, three documents, and a piece about the cause you care about.
- Audition. Shortlisted applicants meet the panel in person. A short introduction, a conversation about your cause and a walk. Details on the auditions page.
- Selection. The contestant roster is confirmed and published, each with her number, profile and cause.
- Training. Weeks of work on poise, public speaking, media handling, financial literacy and advocacy planning. This is where most of the change happens.
- Community projects. Each contestant develops her cause with support from the organisers.
- Public voting. Supporters back their contestant with verified votes.
- Judging. The panel scores independently against the published criteria.
- Grand finale. The crowning night.
The schedule
The 2026 schedule is being finalised. It will appear on the events calendar.
How judging works
Judges score every contestant against the same criteria. Criteria are weighted, so some count for more than others, and both the criteria and the weightings are published before any scoring begins.
| Criterion | Weight | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Poise & Elegance Stage presence, posture and confidence. | ×1.00 | 16.0% |
| Intelligence & Communication Clarity, reasoning and articulation during Q&A. | ×1.50 | 24.0% |
| Cultural Representation Authenticity and depth of cultural expression. | ×1.25 | 20.0% |
| Advocacy & Purpose Strength and credibility of the chosen social cause. | ×1.50 | 24.0% |
| Talent Creativity, skill and originality of the talent showcase. | ×1.00 | 16.0% |
You can see the panel and their backgrounds on the judges page.
How voting works
No voting round is open at the moment.
Votes are bought in packages and credited only after the payment is verified with Paystack. There is no limit on how many times you may vote. Full detail is in the voting rules.
How the two are combined
Public votes and judges' scores are recorded in completely separate systems. Neither can overwrite the other, and neither is adjusted to produce a preferred result.
The weighting between them is published before each round opens. That means a supporter knows what a vote is worth before spending anything, and a contestant knows what she is competing for.
Why the vote ledger matters
Every verified payment writes one immutable entry into a vote ledger. A contestant's total is simply the sum of her entries — there is no editable total field anywhere in the system.
If something needs correcting, a new entry is added with a stated reason and a second administrator's approval. The original entry is never altered. Every entry, including corrections, is traceable to a payment reference that anyone can check on the verification page.
A pageant result that cannot be audited is an assertion. This one can be.
Elimination and withdrawal
Where a round eliminates contestants, those eliminated keep their profiles and their vote history — nothing is deleted. A contestant who withdraws is marked as withdrawn, and her votes remain in the ledger for transparency but no longer compete.
Disputes
If you believe something has gone wrong — a payment, a vote total, a judging decision — write to us with your reference through the contact form. Every administrative action in this system is written to an audit log recording who did what, when and why, so questions can be answered with evidence rather than with assurances.
